Sample fees for simple design projects

Fees by website size

Approximate web design fees for clean simple sites start as follows: under 10 pages - $1500, under 15 pages - $1750, under 20 pages - $2000. Custom design for client-updateable websites based on popular proprietary or free/open-source content management systems - $3000.

Photos

Half-day of taking photos for your website - add $250. The five hours include time for photo-taking, getting there and back, and for selection, post-processing, cropping and resizing of images for your website. Add $75 for each 100 kilometers out of London or each additional hour taking photos.

Text

If you need text for your website, we can refer you to local professionals, writers and editors, who would be glad to help, or we can work with you on website text for around $0.50 per word if you are willing to put in the time and the necessary information in required detail in person or on the phone within agreed timeframe and during our business hours.

Options

Optional forum with basic visual integration - add $500. Optional event calendar with basic visual integration - add $500. Google Calendar integration - add $100. Help with creating PayPal buttons and with setting up inventory tracking and alerts, $250 per visit; usually one visit is enough.

Stock photos

Stock photo license fees range from less than five dollars each for royalty-free use on your website to several hudred dollars or more, depending on quality and your preference, but add $25 per image for our labour finding, purchasing, and processing each one. Alternatively, provide your own photos, buy your own stock images, hire a photographer or take advantage of our semi-professional photo services.

Videos

If you need videos, we keep in touch with local videographers but also less affordable but talented independent movie directors and television professionals. You hire them, send us the videos, and add $50 for posting each video on your website. Alternatively, upload your videos to YouTube or Vimeo by yourself, and we won't charge you a thing for embedding a few on your site.

Client-updateable product catalogues, ecommerce

Updateable product catalogues start at $3000 - including up to 20 products; product photos are extra unless you provide them - $10 per product photo right here in our light tent or $20 per product on location, with a $125 minimum per session. If you are interested in ecommerce, we only design looks for either ProStores (US and Canada), WebStores by Amazon (US Only), or static websites with PayPal buttons or PayPal cart and optional inventory tracking. Our design fees for ProStores and WebStores start at $2500, or $1500 for the static website under ten pages with PayPal options and under ten products.

Of course, we can design custom look for CubeCart, osCommerce and ZenCart, but only if you have these carts hosted elsewhere and supported by the software developer; when it comes to ecommerce, we just want to stick to designing the looks. Please also note, we do not help with federal, provincial or state retail tax issues, retail license application processes or shipping fee calculations for your store items. Don't be suprised that you may have to administer the thing, respond to clients, ship items, answer phone and do some serious marketing. Our design fees for CubeCart, osCommerce, ZenCart, and such start at $3500.

Time Frame

Generally it takes as many working days to have the sites ready as there are pages but add time for consultation, concept selection and revision period. Straightforward projects usually take four to five weeks. Content management systems take longer. Your ability to provide the materials necessary is often the key factor. We can put up a one page business card website to have something up in the meantime. All work to be done and due dates are specified in writing, and after you make up your mind to go with us on the project, we take 40% up front upon signing.

Other fees

Domain name registrations are $20 a year per domain for .com .ca .net .org .biz .us. Other TLDs are also available. We register domains through eNom.

Full-service hosting with us is $25 a month and includes half-hour of maintenance time per month for updates and such. See hosting plans for details.

You are always free to take your site elsewhere at anytime. We never lock your domain names unless you request us to do so. Just make sure to allow two months between domain name registrations, renewals and transfers.

Statistics

All of our web hosting accounts come with website statistics. We will gladly show you how to use them and will show you again when you forget.

Email addresses

Ten mailboxes are included with the $25 web hosting and maintenance account. The $45 hosting accounts include twenty. We can manually set up your email addresses at your domain for you, or we can let you set up and manage all the accounts by yourself.
